Be Your Own Voice of Reason

There is a quote by Maya Angelou that says, “when you know better you do better.”  I somewhat agree with this quote.  I like to say, when you know better you SHOULD do better.  Most of the time we know better but we don’t always do better.  This is when we need to exercise our own voice of reason.

I had a conversation with a friend recently about her life and she told me one day it just hit her that something she had been putting off for years was going to happen this year because SHE decided it was going to happen.  No one TOLD her to do it or gave it to her on a silver platter.  SHE decided it was time because SHE realized she was holding herself back.  She knew she could do better therefore, she did!

Most of the time you will hear the voice of reason called different names.  Names like, intuition, the voice of God, and even “something”, as in “something told me”.  Whatever you call “IT”, follow IT!

Just yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting a young lady, of whom I knew nothing about, who began to tell me her story and how she wanted to know why she kept making the same mistakes over and over again.  I told her it was because she hadn’t learned the lesson.  She took the quiz but she kept failing because she wasn’t studying.  Every time I would give her a solution to one of her issues she would say yeah but…  I told her she was her downfall because she did not TRUST herself.  She got the warning sign before she approached danger but she didn’t LISTEN to her voice of reason.  She went into situation, relationship, and financial agreement one after the other ignoring her own voice.

We do not have to keep doing this to ourselves.  We can stop and make better decisions before the regrets, broken hearts, and feelings of failure if we just trust that loud but silenced voice or feeling inside of us.  Sometimes we can get a clue from someone else without them even knowing they have triggered something in us.  How many times have you purchased something because you saw an advertisement for it?  Treat your voice of reason the same way.  Don’t think about it, just listen to it, and follow it!

Having Faith Is Scary!

I’ve always heard the sayings, “it just takes a little faith, step out on faith,  & where is your faith?”  The bible constantly talks about faith.  One passage states, “if you have faith the size of a mustard seed you can move mountains” (Matthew 17:20).

Recently, I’ve had to “step out on faith” and it wasn’t an easy decision to make.  Actually, it was very terrifying. I’m still terrified.  A friend & I were saying it would be awesome to have a little preview into the future. We don’t want to know every single detail, we just want to know things will be ok as for the outcome of the decision being made.  This may be why psychics are so popular, and rich.

Faith has been defined as, confidence or trust in a person or thing; faith in another’s ability.   So, what this tells me is the decision I make rest solely on what or who I believe in as a higher power.  That’s some scary s***!  I don’t know for sure you’re real, I don’t know for sure that this thing is going to work out, I don’t even know that this is the decision that I really want to make but that doesn’t matter because I’ve been groomed all my life to trust YOU…not MYSELF?

This blog post could go in 10,000 different directions from here but let’s just stick to these three!

  1. Believe in yourself!  Know that you got this, not your parents, your spouse, or even God.  Know that you without a shadow of a doubt can and will succeed in the decision you have made.
  2. Be prepared!  Prepare yourself for greater things because this is why you made that major decision right?  Right!  If you’re going between jobs, be prepared with a few coins stashed or at least have that “financial” talk with your spouse in case things move slow.  Be prepared for number three.
  3. Don’t listen to the haters/naysayers.  If you’ve got number one then go for it!  We won’t always be prepared because…that’s life.  You don’t know what’s coming your way so you can’t prepare for that.

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.

The confidence is that belief you have, whether in yourself or a higher power.  The future/outcome is the thing you cannot see.  There would be no need for faith if we already new the outcome.  Having faith, amongst other things, makes life interesting instead of boring and predictable.

Yes having faith is scary but without it we would not dare to change things.

If it were not for sadness how would you know when you are happy?

If it were not for sickness how would you know when you are healthy?

If it were not for darkness how would you appreciate the sunlight?

The positive and the negative balance each other…the yin and the yang.

I Demand My Blessing

An abundance of situations have come to shake my foundation but I have managed to  keep the faith & a smile on my face.

Well, one day last week I’d had Enough!  My apartment complex has been sold & all the tenants have to move before the their lease is up.  I’ve been searching for a place for my family for months.  99% of the places I contacted I got “I’m sorry, we just rented that house”, “That home is no longer available”, or they want you to have A1 credit to RENT, not buy!

The search was stressing me out so bad that I couldn’t concentrate at work, on my workout, and I wasn’t getting any sleep.  I told my beautiful, caring, & sweetest wife ever, that I couldn’t do it anymore.  I was so frustrated I started catching an attitude with her & that’s something we don’t do.  In our relationship, we talk to each other with respect & love!

Ok that’s it God, I’m mad now!   Lord I’ve been going thr0ugh hell trying to find a place to live & I’m done!  I don’t bother you by asking for a new Lexus or 1 million dollars.  I give, give, give & now it’s my turn to receive!  Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Jacob 32:22-31 talks about Jacob wrestling with God (some versions say it was the Gabriel the angel).  In verse 26, Jacob was told to let him go, & Jacob replied “I will not let you go unless you bless me!”  Just like Jacob, I refused to give up until God blessed me!

Not long after my prayer, my wife text me & said “baby I found one more house, if you don’t mind calling to see if it’s available & go look at it.”  I said ok.  I went by looked at, liked it, it was actually available, we put in our application & were approved!  The house meets ALL our needs & a few wants too!

God wants to bless us!  He said so in John 10:10 “I come that you may have life, & have it abundantly”!  If you invest in something, go to work every day, or let someone borrow money, you expect something in return.  If you’re in a relationship where you give 110% & your significant other only gives 10%, that’s not a smart investment.

You have to stand firm & demand your blessing! Speak it into the universe what you need!  The Law of Attraction is true.   See, I was speaking my needs but I was speaking it to people.  I had everyone helping me find a home and it wasn’t working because I thought the Law of Attraction meant telling you what I needed and you knowing someone who knows someone who knows her and she can fix my problem.  That’s not faith, that’s luck.  I should have been saying it with confidence and faith in God not in luck.
